NEW ORLEANS, La. – The New Orleans Police Department is investigating two separate shootings that occurred less than a block from each other Tuesday night, one of which resulted in the death of two men.
The first shooting happened around 10:00 p.m., at the Port of New Orleans Place.
A man said he was attending a concert at Mardi Gras World, when he was approached by an unknown man who shot him in the shoulder, and then ran off.
The victim, who has not been identified, is currently in stable condition in the hospital.
In the second shooting, a 25-year-old male and a 28-year-old male were shot to death.
It happened about an hour later in a parking lot at the intersections of Henderson and Port of New Orleans Place.
Fliers found at the scene indicate that a rap artist from Atlanta was performing at Mardi Gras World when shots rang out in the area.
According to police, witnesses heard multiple gunshots, and when police arrived they found the 25-year-old man unresponsive in a Silver Toyota, and the 28-year-old man lying on the ground.
Both were shot multiple times and pronounced dead on the scene.
They are not being identified at this time, pending notification of family members.
Several other vehicles were also struck by the bullets during the incident, but they were unoccupied at the time.
Police say the investigation is preliminary at this time and they are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) involved, as well as a motive, but they do say they are looking for a man from the first shooting that was wearing a black shirt, blue jeans, colorful tennis shoes, and had thick beard.
