Rapper DMX was picked to step into the ring with George Zimmerman on Wednesday in a celebrity boxing match, but the rapper said it isn’t a done deal yet.
DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons, said he has a stipulation before the fight – which the promoter is calling one of the biggest celebrity boxing matches of all time – goes forward.
“Well, I was challenged, I was challenged. You know, I still haven’t really decided if I would do it. But if I did do it, the money going to him would have to go to charity,” DMX told FOX Carolina’s Cody Alcorn.
The 43-year-old DMX was chosen from more than a thousand people who applied online to fight the 30-year-old Zimmerman, who was acquitted in the murder of Trayvon Martin in July of 2013.
DMX told Cody Alcorn he wasn’t sure when he would make a decision about the fight, but the 6 foot tall, 160 pound DMX is ready if it does happen.
“DMX has promised to ‘beat his a**,’ but no contract or paperwork has been signed or agreed to yet,” Domenick Nati, DMX’s publicist, said in a statement.
