Beyonce Sings ‘The Star-Bangled Banner’ A Capella During Super Bowl Press Conference

< CURRENT RATING + RATE IT YOURSELF

Beyonce shut down all haters today when she decided to sing “The Star-Spangled Banner” without the help of a backing track or band.

The multi-platinum artist was at the news conference for her upcoming Super Bowl halftime show in New Orleans on Sunday when she gave the flawless impromptu performance.

The singer had received criticism from many in the media after it was discovered she lip-synced the national anthem at President Obama’s inauguration on Monday January 21.

After today’s a cappella performance the singer fielded questions from media members that were in attendance and revealed her decision to lip-sync.

I am a perfectionist … I did not have time to rehearse with the orchestra [at the Inauguration]. It was a live television show and a very important moment for me,” she said. “Due to the weather, due to the delay, due to no proper sound check, I did not feel comfortable taking the risk … so I decided to sing along with my pre-recorded track, which is very common in the music industry. And I’m very proud of my performance.”
