Atlanta police have identified the suspect in the slaying of rapper Slim Dunkin.

Police said they are looking for a man, known locally as rapper Young Vito.

“We want to let the public know that the individual that we believe is responsible in the death of Slim Dunkin, Mr. Mario Hamilton, is in fact Vinson Hardimon, known in rap circles and the recording industry as Young Vito,” Det. David Quinn said.

Hamilton was shot and killed Friday night at a recording studio on Memorial Drive. Police believe the altercation stemmed from an argument over candy.

“We want to reach out to Young Vito, Vinson Hardimon, to come holla at us,” Quinn said.

Police said they have pushed all week to get the witnesses to open up about the shooting.

“I want the family of Mr. Vinson Hardimon to give us a call, let us know. We are fearful for his safety, because we don’t want anything to happen to him,” Quinn said.

Police have a signed warrant for Hadimon’s arrest.

“This was Friday night. The cold case squad has been working to put the facts together to bring this case to closure,” Quinn said.

Hamilton’s funeral was held at 11 a.m. on Friday at Berean Christian Church in Stone Mountain. Burial followed at Hillandale Memorial Gardens in Lithonia. Willie A. Watkins Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements, said a wake was held Thursday at its chapel on Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard in Atlanta.

Gucci Mane and Waka Flocka Flame paid for the funeral.

Slim Dunkin was a childhood friend of Waka Flocka Flame’s and appeared on Gucci Mane and Waka’s “Ferrari Boyz” album released over the summer.
