A dramatic surveillance video captured a late-night shooting in Brooklyn that left a 23-year-old woman dead.
The shooter, wearing a Yankee cap and casually walking toward a group of people, appears to briefly engage them. Then with steely calm, he squeezed off several shots just before 11 p.m. Thursday.
The footage outside the Bed-Stuy Supermarket shows two women, three men and a teen walking down Weirfield St. in Bushwick. The women disappear from the frame, as the shooter walks up behind the group.
He takes the gun out and starts shooting,” a deli worker said.
Sarafina French, 23, was shot in the back and later died at Woodhull Hospital. The Brooklyn woman had just bought a sandwich, some chips and a Dr. Pepper at the store. It wasn’t clear whether she was the intended target.
A 13-year-old boy was blasted in the arm. A 21-year-old man was shot in the back. They were taken to Brookdale University Hospital and expected to survive.
The shooter sprinted toward Broadway and hasn’t been caught. Witnesses heard about nine shots and then saw three people on the ground.
